Synopsis

Reincarnated as Moen, the early-stage blond villain in an Mary Sue’s story, all he wants is to survive.
But the plot seems to be going completely off the rails…
I’ve drugged the princess and my pants are already off, so why hasn’t the hero arrived to stop me yet?!
Why does the protagonist’s childhood friend, the noble Saintess, keep making eyes at me?
Even my obedient and loyal personal maid has started looking at me with a dangerous glint in her eye!
Where is the protagonist?! Somebody save me!!
“Heh heh… now that you’ve stolen my woman, you’ll have to take responsibility for her to the very end, you know~”
…The Mary Sue says with a kind smile, all while gripping a hatchet.

📂 System Interface: The Sinful Blueprint

The Yellow-Haired Villain… Also Desires Happiness is a massive Chinese webnovel (1600+ chapters) that blends the “Trash Villain Transmigration” trope with Cosmic Horror and Psychological Romance. The protagonist, Moen Campbell, finds himself as a minor “Yellow-Haired” (NTR-archetype) villain in a Phoenix-Slayer (female-led power fantasy) novel.

The series is famous for its “Volume-per-Heroine” structure and a significant jump in quality after Volume 1. It evolves from a cringey, misunderstood “drugging” plot into a deep, Lord of the Mysteries-lite theology involving Evil Gods and the Seven Deadly Sins.

Component Classification Tactical Implication
The Black Book Golden Finger Provides premonitions of “Bad Ends.” Early on, it forces Moen to follow the original villainous plot to survive.
Seven Deadly Sins Heroine Archetypes Each major heroine represents a Sin (e.g., the Maid is Lust/Obsession). Their Favorability affects the world logic.
Phoenix-Slayer Plot Narrative Setting The “Protagonist” of the original world is Ariel, a female “Mary Sue” hero, which complicates the harem dynamics.
Cosmic Horror Hidden Genre Beneath the rom-com surface is a bizarre world of theological “Digestion,” Evil Gods, and madness.

📂 System Interface: The Status Window (Moen Campbell)

Attribute Classification Description
Growth Curve Realistic / Human Starts as a “naive imbecile” (Vol 1) but develops into a battle-hardened, self-sacrificing strategist by Vol 3.
Abilities High-Cost Power He doesn’t get “free” powerups. Every increase in strength involves heavy physical or psychological sacrifice.
Personality Fragile Courage He cries, hesitates, and doubts himself, but consistently steps into the line of fire for those he loves.
Moral Compass “Villain” with Ethics Despite the “Yellow Hair” role, he actively tries to respect the agency of the women around him.

Editor's Note

💡 The Volume 1 Barrier. The first ~100 chapters are notoriously rough. The author admits to inexperience, and the "drugging the princess" plot is a major turn-off for many.

The Soft Reboot. Volume 2 (Senior Anna's arc) acts as a pivot point where the writing style shifts from "telling" to "showing" and the stakes become much more serious.

Yandere Deconstruction. Unlike other novels where Yanderes stay crazy forever, this story focuses on them realizing their possession is toxic and trying to grow out of it.

LOTM Influence. Fans of Lord of the Mysteries will recognize the "Bizarre/Theology" twists that appear from Volume 3 onwards.

"If the script says I must be a villain to save them, then I’ll be the most pathetic villain in history."

Experience Curve

Vol. 1 (The Maid's Basement): ⭐⭐ – Rough. Marred by questionable MC decisions and a frustrating "imprisonment" arc. Many readers drop here.

Vol. 2 (The Academy Reboot): ⭐⭐⭐⭐ – Better. Introduces Senior Anna and establishes the true horror/mystery elements of the world.

Vol. 3+ (The Mystery Deepens): ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ – Peak. This is where the Lord of the Mysteries comparisons become valid. The world-building and lore become genuinely fascinating.

WebNovelDB Review

8 /10
A polarizing masterpiece that hides a high-quality cosmic horror story behind a trashy harem premise.

Writing Quality: 4/10 (Start) ➔ 9/10 (Late). The author's growth is one of the most visible "level-ups" in webnovel history.

Character Design: 9/10. The heroines (Anna, Ann, Lea, Ariel) have distinct goals and don't just exist for the MC. Ariel’s "Protagonist" perspective is a great subversion.

World Building: 9/10. Deep, layered lore about "Disasters" from 1000 years ago and the nature of Evil Gods.

Pacing: 6/10. Very slow. At 1600+ chapters, it takes its time exploring every character's trauma and the world's secrets.

The Good: Incredible character development for Moen. The transition from rom-com to psychological horror is seamless. The heroines feel like real people with agency.

The Bad: The initial "drugging" plot is morally bankrupt and hard to stomach. Poor early translations (MTL is often better). Very high barrier to entry.

The Archetype: The "Sacrificial Lamb." He plays the villain so the world can have a hero, suffering immensely in the process.

Verdict: If you can survive the first volume, you’ll find one of the most creative Chinese isekais available.
