Shrouded Seascape

A work of artful, oppressive, and cosmic sea horror. Shrouded Seascape expertly combines elements of Lovecraftian horror, elements of the weirdness presented in SCP Foundation stories, and those of desperate exploration present in games like Sunless Sea to craft a compelling, if unique, tale. The basis for its compelling narrative is Captain Charles—a man whose desire to reach the surface is literally a fight to maintain his humanity in the face of the madness that is the Earthsea’s depths. The success it has is in its ability to evoke an atmosphere of tension that is so palpable that one could almost smell the salt and steel, as well as its excellent and unnerving sense of discovery. Nothing really mars its frenetic and gloriously weird exploration, even if some elements of its storylines and some of its crew members seem to have been left to wither away on the vine. It is an absolute must-have for fans of deep and grimly excellent world-building, in which the biggest monster is very often one’s own mind.
