Editor's Note

💡 This isn't just another VRMMO story about getting rich or being the strongest. It is a deeply philosophical journey about Honor. While most games encourage players to be "murder hobos," the MC chooses to live by the Orc code: "Bul'tar!" (Life is Honor). It’s refreshing, emotional, and features some of the most manly and inspiring character growth in the genre.

Note: This novel has a famous translation controversy. The original fan translation coined the iconic Orc battle cry "Bul'tar!" (which became a symbol of the novel). The official/licensed translation later changed this to "Burn!", a decision that divided the fanbase. Most long-time fans recommend seeking out the version with "Bul'tar" for the authentic experience.

Experience Curve

Ch. 1–40 (The Way of the Orc): ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ – Pure Gold. The introduction to Orc culture and the MC's first steps into the game are incredible. The contrast between human greed and Orc honor is established perfectly.

Ch. 41–120 (Bul'tar!): ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ – This is where the novel peaks. The world-building expands, and the MC's influence starts changing the NPCs and players around him. Every battle feels meaningful and epic.

Ch. 121–180 (World Conflict): ⭐⭐⭐⭐ – The stakes move from personal growth to global events. The pacing remains fast, though some VRMMO tropes start to appear. Still, the emotional weight of the NPC interactions keeps it high quality.

Ch. 181–236 (The Final Charge): ⭐⭐⭐ – A solid conclusion. However, be warned: late-game translation changes (where the iconic "Bul'tar" was changed to "Burn" in some versions) frustrated many fans. Despite this, the ending is satisfying and wraps up the MC’s real-life trauma well.

WebNovelDB Review

9 /10
Praise the Orc! is a "must-read" for anyone tired of selfish protagonists. It succeeds by making you care about a world that is supposedly "just a game."

The Good: The Orc philosophy is genuinely inspiring. The MC is a mature man, not a hormonal teenager. The "Bro-mance" and camaraderie between the Orc warriors will make you want to shout "Bul'tar!" in real life. It also handles the MC's real-world trauma (PTSD) with surprising depth.

The Bad: The late-stage translation issues (changing key terms like "Bul'tar" and weapon names) can be immersion-breaking. Some side characters in the real world feel a bit flat compared to the amazing NPCs in the game.

For Fans Of: Overgeared (for the NPC emotional bond), The King of the Battlefield, Solo Leveling (for the hype).

Not For You If: You hate VRMMO settings where the game world feels "too real," or if you want a protagonist who only cares about loot and stats.
