Editor's Note

💡 This novel is the definition of a "guilty pleasure" or "brainless read." It features exciting MMO mechanics and a rare undead protagonist, but it is infamous for having some of the most frustrating character decisions in the genre. If you can ignore logical plot holes and a massive amount of "fan service" descriptions, the grinding and guild wars are genuinely satisfying. Approach this as a pure, uncut power fantasy with satisfying game loops, not as a narrative masterpiece. It's fast food for your inner gamer.

Experience Curve

Ch. 1–20 (The Logic Wall): ⭐⭐ – The Filter. This arc contains the notorious "faked death" plot point. Many readers drop here because the MC’s decision to let his loved ones mourn him feels unnecessary and irrational.

Ch. 21–250 (The Undead Rise): ⭐⭐⭐⭐ – The Hook. Once the story settles into the game mechanics, it shines. Lu Chen’s growth as a Zombie and the introduction of the "Tactics" stat (allowing for massive group buffs) make for great reading.

Ch. 251–1,200 (Guild Dominance): ⭐⭐⭐ – The Core. A massive, steady grind. This section is filled with legendary quests, international conflicts, and the building of a world-class guild. It’s classic Shi Luo Ye action at its peak.

Ch. 1,201–1,600 (The Divine Finale): ⭐⭐ – The Power Creep. As the level cap soars, the MC reaches god-like status. The story eventually ties up the real-world assassination plot and the virus mystery, though the power scaling becomes astronomical.

WebNovelDB Review

6 /10
A solid gaming experience wrapped in a messy, logic-defying plot. The Good: Excellent pacing during action sequences. The "Tactics" stat system and group-wide buffs offer a unique take on raid leading. Playing as a monster/undead faction adds a fresh flavor to the usual "Hero" archetype. The Bad: The "Chapter 16" logic—where the MC fakes his death and lets his loved ones mourn—is widely considered one of the worst plot devices in web novel history. Additionally, the author's constant, repetitive descriptions of female characters' "white thighs and supple chests" can be intrusive and off-putting. For Fans Of: Zhan Long, The King's Avatar (for the pro-gamer return), Rebirth of the Thief. Not For You If: You value logical character motivations, hate "harem-bait" descriptions, or are bothered by mathematical inconsistencies in game stats.
