Trash of the Count’s Family is a popular novel that blends Action, Adventure, Fantasy and more. Written by the author Yu Ryeo Han. 1,142 chapters have been translated, and translation of other chapters is in progress.

Synopsis

When I opened my eyes, I was in a book. [The Hero’s Birth].

[The Hero’s Birth] was a book about the experiences of Choi Han, the protagonist, a high school student who was taken to a dimension other than Earth, and the creation of the continent’s many heroes.

I became a part of that book because I was the tr*sh of the Count’s family and ruled the area where Choi Han first meets the village. The problem is that Choi Han becomes irrational when assassins destroy the hamlet and all of its inhabitants. The main issue is that the s*upid jerk I have turned into does not know what happened in the hamlet and messes with Choi Han only to get severely punished.

“This will make my head hurt.” I think I was involved in a major incident. But it was worth it to try to make this my new life.

Editor's Note

💡 If you enjoyed Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint, this is a mandatory read. It takes the "Isekai into a novel" trope and turns it into a massive, epic tale of a man who desperately wants to be a lazy slacker but accidentally becomes a legendary hero. It is famous for having zero romance and a heavy focus on platonic loyalty, found family (including the most adorable dragon in fiction), and high-level strategic planning.

Experience Curve

Ch. 1–150 (The Setup): ⭐⭐⭐⭐ – The Hook. Watching Cale manipulate the original protagonist (Choi Han) and gather "Ancient Powers" to avoid his scripted "beating" is both hilarious and satisfying.

Ch. 151–500 (The War Arc): ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ – The Peak. The stakes skyrocket as the continent-wide conspiracy of "Arm" is revealed. Cale’s strategic brilliance and his "unintentional" sacrifices make this the series’ strongest segment.

Ch. 501–1142 (The Epic Expansion): ⭐⭐⭐⭐ – The Long Haul. The world expands into gods, sealed lands, and deeper lore. While the scale is immense, the author uses "Chekhov's Sniper" to pay off details planted hundreds of chapters prior.

WebNovelDB Review

9 /10
A masterpiece of character interaction and strategic "misunderstandings" that manages to stay engaging over 700+ chapters without ever needing a romance subplot. The Good: The "Cale" Dynamic. Cale is a "reliable narrator" who is actually an "unreliable narrator" about his own kindness. He thinks he is being selfish, but everyone around him views him as a saintly martyr. The bond between him, the black dragon Raon, and his "children" (On and Hong) is the emotional heart of the story. The Bad: Plot-Driven "Tell." Early on, the author relies heavily on Cale's internal monologue to explain world lore rather than organic discovery. Some side characters can feel like "Cale-worshippers," and the lack of tension (due to Cale’s perfect planning) can make the middle-late chapters feel like a "victory lap" rather than a struggle. For Fans Of: Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint, The Novel’s Extra, "Found Family" tropes, and smart, non-OP protagonists who win through planning and money. Not For You If: You need a romantic subplot, you dislike "misunderstanding" comedy, or you want an MC who fights his own battles with raw physical power.
