Record of a Thousand Lives is a top-tier regression story for fans who like competent, cold, and efficient protagonists. While many "regressors" feel like they only have a vague idea of the future, Kang Yoonsoo feels like a god walking among mortals because his knowledge is truly absolute.
The Good: The supporting cast is surprisingly well-written, providing the emotional heart that the MC has long since suppressed. The "twist" regarding why he keeps regressing is refreshing and keeps the mystery alive. Also, it's a rare Non-Harem Korean novel where the MC has a consistent, singular love interest across his many lives.
The Bad: Because the MC knows everything, there is very little "tension" in the traditional sense during the early and mid-game. Some readers find the ending a bit rushed or anticlimactic compared to the massive buildup of the previous 999 lives.
For Fans Of: The Second Coming of Gluttony, Emperor’s Domination (for the all-knowing vibe), Kill the Hero.
Not For You If: You want a protagonist who struggles and grows emotionally, or if you dislike "speedrunner" style plots where the MC skips the challenge through pure knowledge.
