"Not A Regressor" is a long-awaited relief for anyone who has grown tired of the "perfect hero who has knowledge from the future" standard. The biggest selling point of this series has got to be its protagonist, Ohjin—who happens to be a cynical man who manipulates his way through situations as a scammer rather than a regressor who was cheating with a cheat sheet from the future. The opening few chapters are a phenomenal display of dark humor as Ohjin struggles to live up to the "regressor" stereotype. However, you should expect a tone change as the book progresses; while it does begin as a clever twist on the genre, the book does gradually return to the power fantasy genre.
