The Easter Egg Game is a popular novel that blends Action, Horror, Psychological and more. Written by the author Bó Mù Bīng Lún. A total of 108 chapters have been translated and the novel is complete.

Synopsis

Book 1
On the day he received the Easter Egg, Lin Jue’s entire life changed. That nightmarish night, everyone in the school became zombies apart from the thirteen who had received an easter egg. It wasn’t because of a deadly virus, but rather a cruel game. Unable to leave the school, they were able to find a bargaining chip for life in the plaza. The prowling hunters in the dark were not the most fearsome opponents, the hidden Judas in the survivors was the most deadly. As everyone died one by one, the survivors struggled, waiting for dawn.
Book 2
It was a nightmare- in a sealed off university campus, the thirteen who received easter eggs were trapped and forced to fight for the sake of seeing the next sunrise. The Judas hidden among the players, the enemies that surrounded them on all fronts, the companions that were ready to turn against each other…
When Lin Jue woke up on his dormitory bed, there were no wounds on his body; everything from the previous night had just seemed like a dream. But Lilith was still giving out her easter eggs, and Song Hanzhang and Lu Ren were already there. The second round was just about to start. It turned out that all of it, all of it was real.
Book 3
“It means that the world we are in now is fake.” That one sentence from Song Hanzhang woke Lin Jue up from the joy he felt from surviving the second round.
From the moment they received the easter eggs, they had stopped existing in the world of men, and been made to struggle to survive in an endless game. The zombies of the first round, the insects of the second round; every round resulted in piles of casualties in this dangerous world. And in the third round… they were faced with an unprecedented, terrifying crisis.
A team from 2002 and a team from 2022 began a battle of life and death with Lin Jue and the others from the 2012 team. Only one could survive, so who would be the real winner?

Editor's Note

⚠️ The "Slowest" Burn. If you are here specifically for the BL (Boys' Love) romance, brace yourself. The romance is barely a whisper until the final book. In fact, calling it a BL novel might feel like a stretch for the first 70% of the story. It is a survival horror first, and a relationship study second.

The Quality Slide. Most readers agree that Book 1 is a masterclass in tension and moral dilemmas. However, by Book 3, things get... weird. Giant goldfish, time-travel plots, and sudden power-ups make the final act feel a bit like the author was rushing to meet a deadline.

The "A-Hole" ML. Song Hanzhang is not your typical doting male lead. He is cold, clinical, and arguably manipulative. He views the MC as a "safe" variable because he can control him. It’s a twisted, realistic look at how a psychopath might handle a survival partner, but it won’t be everyone’s cup of tea.

The "Judas" Mechanic. The best part of the early story is the hidden traitor mechanic. It turns every interaction into a psychological chess match where trust is a liability.

108 chapters of zombies, insects, and existential dread. Read The Easter Egg Game if you want a gritty, mental thriller that doesn't hold your hand—but be prepared for a rocky finish.

Experience Curve

Book. 1 (The Zombie School): ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ – The Peak. A classic survival horror setup. The stakes feel real, the characters aren't overpowered, and the moral weight of every death actually lands. This is peak "Infinite Flow."

Book. 2 (The Insect Invasion): ⭐⭐⭐ – The Shift. The introduction of "psychopathic geniuses" and overpowered martial arts skills starts to turn the story into more of a shounen battle manga. Still fun, but the horror tension begins to leak out.

Book. 3 (The Time War): ⭐⭐ – The Descent. Between the random "Goldfish" plot and the time-traveling teams from different decades, the story becomes a bit of a jigsaw puzzle that doesn't always fit. The ending is satisfying for some, but many find it abrupt and confusing.

WebNovelDB Review

7 /10
A solid, short Infinite Flow that starts with a bang but loses its way in the weeds of its own complexity.

Horror Atmosphere: 9/10 (Initial). The first book’s zombies and the "Judas" tension are top-tier. It genuinely captures the dread of being trapped in a sealed campus.

Protagonist Growth: 6/10. Lin Jue goes from a naive student to a "ferocious rabbit." His obsession with the ML is polarizing; some see it as devotion, others as "illogically brain-dead."

Supporting Cast: 5/10. The author spends a lot of time on backstories for characters who die immediately. While this makes the world feel "real," it can feel like filler when you're waiting for the main plot to move.

Logic & Pacing: 6/10. The mechanics of the game are intentionally mysterious, which adds to the fear, but by the end, the "impartial neutral" entities and their motivations feel a bit half-baked.

The Good: Excellent writing style and highly descriptive action. It belongs to the same universe as Welcome to the Nightmare Game, so if you enjoy that author’s brand of heart-wrenching scenarios, you'll find gems here.

The Bad: The ML's attitude toward the MC is genuinely toxic at times, and the ending retcons several established rules about the "devil" behind the games.

The Archetype: The "Expendable Player." Unlike other novels where the MC has a massive "cheat," Lin Jue feels like a guy who could actually die at any second—at least in the beginning.

The Final Verdict: Read it for Book 1 and 2. They are excellent examples of survival horror. Treat Book 3 as an optional fever dream that concludes the mystery, but don't expect the same grounded logic that made the start so compelling.
