GREED: ALL FOR WHAT? is a popular novel that blends Action, Adventure, Fantasy and more. Written by the author DMadLord. 2,664 chapters have been translated, and translation of other chapters is in progress.

Synopsis

It is said that you shouldn’t meet your heroes. Gehaldirah, a high elf of royal bloodline didn’t have to meet the realm lord of High Heaven before he became disillusioned.
His admiration for the paragon of the high elf race turned into hatred when he got some damning knowledge about why demons kept attacking his home and looting the sacred tree of life. His hatred for the realm lord turned to self-hatred for his weakness and mediocrity.
Gehaldirah had a moment of introspection. He isn’t at the bottom of the ladder in this strength-based hierarchy. He is a king of law, but that apparently isn’t enough to guarantee your fate. His strength is also mediocre because it was granted to him because of his bloodline.
He determined he had to change himself. He has to become better. He concocted a plan that is one part genius and one part greed. His plan for reincarnation led him to the trial of heaven that occurs every origin cycle. He needed Origin essence so he participated in the trial.
He got more than he wanted from the trial. His plan for reincarnation would be a success after some adjustments. But now he has a different aim. He won’t aim for just the realm lord. The realm lord has control of the High Heaven Realm. That isn’t enough for Geraldirah anymore.
He became greedier. He has his sight set on the movers and shakers of the Void Universe. Only the power to subvert the will of World Gods will do. The plan to create LEGION, the ultimate organism was then hatched. If one person cannot achieve something, what about a multitude of them?
His journey will not be easy. He will have to overcome Celestials and their Celestial Supreme, Gods and their GodKings, Demon kings and their Demon gods. The Void Universe is full of obstacles that will like nothing more than to put an end to his path. It is not that they hate him. They will oppose him simply because the era of conquest is coming. There are no friends in the era of conquest. It is everyone for themselves. And he will use everything and everyone for the advancement of Legion.

📂 System Interface: The Multitude Ledger

GREED: All for What? is a massive, ongoing cultivation/reincarnation epic that serves as the flagship work of author DMad. The story follows Gehaldirah, a High Elf royal who discovers that his race’s “Paragon” is actually a traitor responsible for the demonic invasions of his home. Disillusioned by his own mediocrity and the false hierarchy of the “High Heaven Realm,” he executes a “genius and greedy” plan to reincarnate not just as one person, but as LEGION—a collective of nine distinct bodies (avatars) spread across different races and realms.

Component Classification Tactical Implication
Gehaldirah (The Core) The Architect A high-tier entity who chose “Greed” to subvert the will of World Gods.
LEGION The Ultimate Organism Nine avatars (Soverick, Aeternus, Helios, etc.) living simultaneous, diverse lives.
The Void Universe The Macro-Setting A strength-based hierarchy where Celestials, GodKings, and Demon Gods compete.
Status Ongoing (2,660+ Ch.) An immense commitment known for extreme detail and a slow-burn pace.

📂 System Interface: The “Collective Consciousness” Status Window

Attribute Classification Description
Protagonist Style Cold / Rational Similar to Fang Yuan (Reverend Insanity); apathetic to anything but the “Path of Power.”
Narrative Structure Non-Linear / Multi-POV Frequently jumps between the 9 avatars; uses “Time Rewinds” to show simultaneous events.
World-Building Exhaustive / Info-Dump Extremely dense cultivation systems and history; often described as “Homework.”
Action vs. Theory Theory-Heavy Long stretches of introspection and cultivation mechanics between major wars.

Editor's Note

💡 The "First 50 Chapters" Hurdle. Almost every reviewer notes that the beginning is a "slog." The author has admitted the early writing needs a rewrite. Many readers "gave up 6 times" before finally pushing through the heavy exposition to reach the actual story.

The "Narrator" Problem. Some critics feel the novel violates the "Show, Don't Tell" rule, acting more like a "series of notes" or a "movie script being read by a narrator" rather than an immersive experience.

Post-2000 Chapter Fatigue. Long-time readers report a significant shift after chapter 2000. Some claim the plot "fell apart" into irrelevant details and repeated sections, while others enjoy the "Game-like" shift and the expanded scope.

*"2,664+ chapters of legion, logic, and a high elf who decided that one body wasn't enough to conquer the universe. Ongoing — and requires homework-level commitment."*

Experience Curve

Ch. 1–50 (The Plan): ⭐⭐ – The Filter. Heavy info-dumping. You must be patient to understand the reincarnation mechanics.

Ch. 51–500 (The Diversification): ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ – The Masterpiece Arc. Seeing the avatars (like Soverick the Giant and Aeternus the Demon) grow in their respective worlds is the novel's strongest point.

Ch. 501–1500 (The Era of Conquest): ⭐⭐⭐⭐ – The Scheme. High-level manipulation and the "War of the Gods" provide massive catharsis.

Ch. 1501–2000 (The Slowdown): ⭐⭐⭐ – The Grind. The multi-POV structure causes the timeline to feel stagnant as you read the same time period from 9 different angles.

Ch. 2001+ (The Pivot): ⭐⭐ – The Controversy. A shift in narrative focus that some veterans find disappointing or "disordered."

WebNovelDB Review

8 /10
A "Masterpiece" of creativity and ambition that is occasionally held back by its own complexity and "filler-like" detail.

Writing Quality: 7/10. Improves significantly after the first 100 chapters.

Character Design: 9/10. Creating 9 distinct, interesting "Main Characters" who are all the same person is a feat of writing.

World-Building: 10/10. Possibly the most detailed and unique cultivation setting on Webnovel.

Pacing: 4/10. Infamously slow. Expect to spend 300 chapters on a single event viewed from multiple perspectives.

The Good: If you love Reverend Insanity, this is your next binge. No romance, no harem, just pure, greedy pursuit of power. The "Legion" concept is truly unique in the genre.

The Bad: It requires "Patience and Homework." The constant jumping between POVs and the "Time Rewinds" can be incredibly frustrating for readers who just want to follow one character's progress.

For Fans Of: Reverend Insanity, Warlock of the Magical World, Lord of the Mysteries.

Not For You If: You want a "Beta MC," a quick-paced story, or a simple "Level Up" progression.

Verdict: "The Ultimate Cultivation Puzzle." It is a "hidden gem" for those with the patience to assemble the pieces.

Pacing Note: This is an infamously slow, multi-POV epic. The first 50 chapters are a filter. Expect to read the same time period from 9 different angles. If you need constant progression, you'll struggle. If you love assembling complex puzzles, you're home.
